Diversity Guidelines

purpose

diversity studies will concern herself with issues of diversity in action

diversity is a peer reviewed journal

we believe that true philosophy shows its truth when applied to real work in real time once applied to the medium of the actual, philosophy shows itself for what it is

the principle of diversity derives from the secular humanist principle of equality

the principle of diversity developed when the battle for equality became stymied in issues of difference

at first diversity was simply an agreement to agree to disagree but because this agreement was too
easily broken and too many lives were lost and destroyed

diversity became a law

the challenge is similar to the challenge we faced once slavery was made illegal:creating a law does not recreate persons

the task of recreating our selves in the light of diversity, its meaning and its implications is the purpose of diversity studies

procedure

we want to explore what diversity can mean to us
we have decided on six main categories that interest us

first pick an area that seems closest to how you would describe your interests --

collaboration

community

culture

expression

understanding

values

then read that content areas for publication
send us what you would like to see published

we cannot pay you anything outright
but we do not keep any rights to your work except our right
to publish it on the internet
and to have the collection placed in the Perry Castañeda Library
our research library here at University of Texas at Austin

once your work is accepted --

you will be able to send us links to your email and/or your sites
we are hoping to be a part of the growing community of people
working on diversity issues

diversity studies will come out once a year
it will be an additive journal
when it opens in january 2000, that content
will remain until january 2001, but we will
be accepting work for the 2000 issue until
october 30th 2000 at which point we will
begin to collect pieces for the 2001 issue

once an issue is complete --
Volume 2000 will be complete january 2001--
it will be available online but through the Perry Castañeda Library servers

Fine Print
