FAMILY VIOLENCE

How to keep children safe

As a parent, there are many things you can do to keep your children safe.

First of all, let them know that you love them. Children need to believe that there is at least one parent that they can trust.

You can:

1. Teach your children how to dial 911

2. Teach your children to avoid danger. Show them how to find safe places. Explain to them how it is important to stay away when grownups are fighting.

3. Tell your children that they are not to blame. The fighting has nothing to do with them.

4. Print out their safety plan and help them fill in the blanks. Click here for the Child's Safety Plan.
