people don't know that when they are so mean that the meanness kind of hangs there like a putrid fart

and everyone knows who did it cuz we heard it or saw it or just know the way you know that someone means you harm and we don't lose the memory right away either, we remember the stink on our nerve ends and wish that we didn't know that smell quite so well

and sometimes it's exactly what you need, a shawl against a chill wind but sometimes you are hot, really hot, really, really too hot already and someone offers you a shawl and puts it on your shoulders before you can say no and you know that they didn't mean you any harm but you want to scream and throw yourself on the ground and roll like a dog sprayed with skunk spew
