Poem

It is not enough to contain war
We must create peace
In order to do that we must explore ideas
Thoughts and perspectives
That we never have before

And

In order to do that
It will not be sufficient to simply examine
Our assumptions
We must move beyond
Analysis into the realms of co-creation

Heuristics

Heuristics is expert guessing.

We won't find our way to what makes peace a viable social construct using logic because logic has been co-opted by a militaristic separatism that pervades our social structures (not to mention the fact that logic evolved in service to those forces and is therefore uniquely suited to its purposes). To find peace even in imaginings we will have to do some expert guessing, some leaping based on experience, intuition, good will and the faith that we have not yet used up the potentials inherent in us.

Peace may not be able to be built until it has been lived and felt, exchanged and penetrated deeply by our needs . When peace has become how we are constituted then, as Hannah Arendt so carefully delineated, in On Revolution, we will be able to write a constitution that reflects how we are then constituted, in peace. Until then, practice, practice, practice.
