What makes us human?

Perhaps no one will ever be able to answer that question once and for all. It is surely that we can think, that we can feel, that we can know and judge. But it is just as surely that we do these things in the context of other human beings.

Community is what we make together. And we are all responsible for its shape and its future.

This section of diversity studies seeks to explore any aspect of human endeavor that will help us build our communities the way we wish them to be. Clearly, everyone will have a unique conception of the way they would like their communities to function. We are interested in exploring as many of these ideas as we can.

It is in our diversity that we come together to create an academic community called diversity studies. We are hoping that this journal will reflect that broadest and deepest visions in that regard.
